This study of prempro gave really only two categories of risk:

  1. Risk of breast cancer
  2. Risk of vascular disease (heart attack, stroke, and pulmonary embolus).

If you decrease your risk of these two, you may avoid the disease even taking estrogen (in the same way you decrease your risk of heart attack by exercising even if you have high cholesterol).  Jogging 30 minutes 3 times a week was shown to decrease the risk of heart attack more then any blood pressure medication and more than cholesterol medication (New England Journal).  Just one example, but my bet is that when they analyze the data, the people who developed vascular disease and perhaps breast cancer had other major factors involved.

If you follow these guidelines, I think (but can't prove yet) that you will avoid the dangerous effects of Premarin.  This could leave you with the good effects of less colon cancer and less dementia and possibly feeling and looking younger.
