- For some problems, I will pay you! For this to occur you must
qualify for one of my research projects. Sometimes, I will see
patients for free. If you want to consider participating in any
of my research, be sure to sign up for my health lessons (I notify students
of new research projects).
- I do not accept insurance. Unfortunately, insurance at this time
pays more for the removal of 3 warts (which takes me about 5 minutes with
liquid nitrogen) than it pays me to spend 2 hours figuring out how to treat
a complicated patient. It costs more to rent a jet ski for an hour at
the beach near my home than insurance pays me for an hour of my time.
I refuse to continue to participate in the present insurance pay scale which
places such a small value on the diagnosis and treatment of complicated
medical problems. I accept cash, check, or credit card. Because
I don't accept insurance, I make the promise to return
all of my physician fees to anyone who visits me in my private clinic,
anytime, for any reason. I'm careful to only take money from
people whom I think I can help, whom I think really want help. I offer to
give all the money paid to me back to the patient if he or she doesn't think
I've given them more than their money's worth (can't return lab fees).
- FAQ's
- Can I pay you by the visit? I
don't want people to be hesitant to see me. If they have to pay every
time they visit then they will sometimes not call or visit when they should
and I can't help them as much as I would like.
- Can I pay you by the hour? Again,
people get in a hurry (I tried this one) and if I ask them many questions to
get to the bottom of their problem they don't feel relaxed about sitting and
talking with me (knowing that it's costing them money).
- Can I make payments? I don't like
this one because frequently I'll have people on the road to recovery then
they'll quit coming to see me because they can't make the payments.
- Best, people pay me the full fee up front.
Now they are relaxed about sitting and talking with me and I'm relaxed that
I've been compensated for my time. I ask for the full 6 month's worth
up front, but give the guarantee that they get all the money back at anytime
during the 6 month's if they do not think my services were worth more than
they paid.
- Even though I do not accept insurance, the
patient's rights act forces insurance companies to pay for lab work and x-rays that I
order even if I refuse to accept the insurance payments. Of course,
just like with doctors who accept insurance, your policy may not pay for
some tests or may ask you to pay for some tests but your insurance is still
required to cover the same testing that it would cover if you saw a doctor
that accepts insurance.
- If you are interested in seeing me, please call or
e-mail
me. We can spend about 10 minutes
on the phone and have good indication if we're potentially a good match.
