Follow these tips instead. Estrogen is not worth the risk to have
strong bones (if that is your only reason for taking it).
- Correct your testosterone levels. Testosterone has actually been
given at high doses to women with breast cancer. It didn't help the
breast cancer go away but it did not put the breast at higher risk.
Testosterone does more to help your bones than does estrogen (that's one
reason men have stronger bones than women).
- Take calcium and magnesium supplements
- Walk or jog daily
- Correct growth hormone levels if very low (again proven to do more for
bones than estrogen).
- Take prescription drugs for osteo if still at risk for hip fracture after
doing all of the above.
